Farm Chores at Hildene

June 11 to August 9

PLEASE NOTE: Our Farm Chores program has been temporarily suspended due to safety concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. We look forward to re-instituting the ever-popular Farm Chores Program as soon as it is deemed safe to do so! Stay tuned!

Children 12 and younger are invited to experience the Goat Dairy at Hildene Farm in our farm chores program. Thursdays through Saturdays from 9:30 to 11:00am, guests with children ages 4 through 12 may register for one morning of Farm Chores at the Dairy.  The program begins with a guided nature walk from our Welcome Center down to the dairy farm where guests will be immersed in “a day in the life of a goat.”  Children will be able to assist farm staff in our morning chores routine, including feeding and grooming goats, pitching their pens and cleaning their feeders.  They will have the opportunity to explore the hay mow, get “hands-on” time with our friendly herd of Nubian goats, and learn about goat anatomy, care requirements, and behavior.  Participants will also have a chance to tour the creamery from our viewing area, and interact with our farm staff.   This program will be offered as weather permits.  Please note:  REGISTRATION is REQUIRED AT LEAST 48 HOURS IN ADVANCE and can only be made Mondays through Fridays, 9:00am to 4:00pm.  Groups are limited to 5 children, all of whom must be accompanied by an adult. To register, please call 802.367.7960 or email farm@hildene.org. The fee for this program is $7/children, $6/adult for non-member, and $6/children, $5/adult for members.
