In 2017, Hildene Youth Corps was created for eight highly motivated middle school students to provide an opportunity to start the transition from summer day camps to a world in which they have responsibility to others. Over two weeks, the youth corps team completes a needed project at Hildene while also having fun exploring ecology, helping with chores at Hildene Farm and enjoying crafts and games. At the end of their time, the goal is that they leave with a sense of ownership, accomplishment, and caring about the wider world.

2018 – Vernal pool boardwalk

2019 – Bridge over the fen

2021 – Apiary fence

2022 – Woodland trail boardwalk  

2023 –Picnic tables and benches – a gathering place in the dene

2024 – Raised propagation beds, demo milking cow, moveable trail boardwalks

Youth Corps is on pause for 2025.
