All Together For Hildene

Why You Matter

None of our achievements would be possible without the support of individuals like you. Your generosity is the lifeline that sustains everything we do—from preserving the legacy of the Lincoln family and their ancestral home, to educating and inspiring current and future generations through robust programming.

Why Hildene Matters

Hildene is where history lives and Lincoln’s legacy takes shape in the present. Through immersive education, thoughtful preservation, and meaningful civic engagement, Hildene is a place where values like unity, civility, integrity, and perseverance are not only taught—they’re lived. Here, the story of one American family becomes a springboard for dialogue, learning, and action. At a time when our nation’s founding ideals matter more than ever, Hildene continues to inspire purpose, spark curiosity, and foster community.

A Year in Review

Preserving History

Because of you, our collection of over 40,000 artifacts—including 14 historic buildings and hundreds of treasured personal items from the Lincoln family—is safeguarded for the future. Each artifact tells a story, connecting visitors to the enduring legacy of the Lincoln family.

Original Grandeur

The current restoration of the 120-year-old Lincoln family home is a labor of love made possible by your support. The next, most visible phase of reglazing windows and restoring shutters is now underway. We will continue restoring the remaining 60 of 68 windows and 110 of the 120 shutters. Additionally, we will repair and repaint exterior trim and the 168 exterior balusters. Your support will ensure this project progresses through 2025.

A Space for Everyone

Thanks to your generosity, we are expanding our mission-driven programming. Lincoln Hall provides us with a year-round venue for hosting thought-provoking events that address issues relevant to today, in addition to private functions. We look forward to announcing new local, regional, and national collaborations. Your support helps us move forward.

Inspiring Young Minds

Our hands-on educational programs—from elementary, middle, and high school initiatives, to the Lincoln Essay Competition, Youth Corps, and nine weeks of summer camps—are funded by your generous gifts. Your support helps ignite a passion in young people and shape the leaders of tomorrow.

Growing Sustainability

When you support Hildene, you also enable us to maintain Hildene’s 412 acres where land and garden management and regenerative farming practices at Hildene Farm are models for sustainability and conservation. From our solar-powered goat dairy to our teaching greenhouse and animal barn, from our pollinator gardens to our Bobolink sanctuary, we’re providing a living classroom on conservation for students and visitors alike. All of this is thanks to your generosity

Local Economic Impact

Last year, 45,000 visitors from around the world came to experience the rich history and natural beauty that your support preserves. Weddings brought an additional 6,000 guests. Visitors to Hildene support the local economy—from lodging, dining, and retail to recreation and cultural tourism—playing a crucial role in the economic vitality of our region.
