After Peggy Beckwith's death in 1975, a determined group of community members created The Friends of Hildene as a volunteer-led and run organization, with the initial goal of preserving the Lincoln Family Home. To this day, volunteers remain an essential and deeply valued part of this historic estate. We are grateful for the time, talents, and enthusiasm our volunteers bring to Hildene. There are many opportunities for service throughout the property—including in the home, gardens, farms, and during special events.
