Pollinators in Action: A Guided Garden Walk

Join Hildene’s beekeeper and educator for a guided walk through the Kitchen and Cutting Gardens, Pollinator Meadow, and Formal Garden to discover pollinators preparing for winter.

As temperatures cool and frost approach, bees, butterflies, and other pollinators are busy gathering the last of the season’s nectar and pollen. They are fueling migration, building winter fat reserves, and stocking their homes for months ahead.

Join Hildene’s beekeeper and educator for a guided walk from the Kitchen and Cutting Gardens through the Pollinator Meadow and into the Formal Garden. Along the way, discover pollinators in action as they prepare for winter and learn about the vital role these remarkable creatures play in our gardens and ecosystems.

No two visits will be quite the same. At this time of year, the landscape changes quickly, bringing new discoveries with each day. Come explore, observe, and see what’s buzzing in the garden before winter arrives.

Rain Plan: Pollinators like being out in the rain even less than we do. In the event of rain, we will gather in Hildene’s Youth Education Building for a presentation exploring who pollinators are, the important roles they play in our lives, and why they are essential to the health of our ecosystems.

Offered the Thursdays and Fridays this fall as an add-on to your Hildene day visit.
